Thumbs up Lady Lake Public Library

I just wanted to give a brief shout out to the staff at the Lady Lake Public Library. I use this library maybe once a week and have been doing this maybe five years or so. I have not really been counting the years. I live in Sumter County and I have to pay the $40 non-Lake County Resident fee. Marion County people do not have to pay as far as I know because of a reciprocal agreement for borrowers. http://www.lakeline.lib.fl.us/freque...spx#countycard

As some may know, I have bugged the Lake County Library system staff once in a while about a common sense link to the Florida Victim Services Directory Victim Services Directory with the adage that it should be kept as elegant as possible. That is to say, the quickest approach to it should be sought. KISS should apply often-- Keep It Simple Stupid. I do not usually use those words but sure have heard them a lot in response to my own massive writings over the Internet.

I have been doing this kind of persuasion using the Internet since 2000 or so when I was writing a bunch of FL Victim Service Resources and received a response from a Ft. Myers Rape Crisis Center that they would like to see the Florida Victim Services Directory (paper form) in various libraries. I discovered that there was an electronic version of this and soon was writing many public and law libraries all over Florida trying to get them to put in a link. Victim Services Directory

I have found the people at the Lady Lake Public Library http://www.lakeline.lib.fl.us/librar...tail.aspx?id=4 always very friendly and professional despite whatever problems, if any, my activism may have caused them. I rarely use the Sumter County Library System but have found the new library people near Brownswood also happy to see me.

If you are aware of a library which does not have a link to something like the Florida Victim Services Directory in your own community I hope that you will ask them why not? It seems that the Sheriffs' Offices should also have such a link as it sends out the message that the needs of the victims/survivors of crimes are very important.
