Dr. Duke did my husband's hip replacement using the anterior procedure. As far as we can tell he did an excellent job, BUT do not ever expect to see him either before or after the procedure, you will see his personal assistant. His assistant saw my husband to decide if he really needed the replacement, after deciding he did he saw Dr. Duke one time, then Dr. Duke did the surgery, spoke to me over the phone and after that my husband had to deal with his assistant. This may be all well and good, but we would have liked to see him just once to get his final OK!

I am hearing great things about Tri-County Ortho. A very good friend of mine has been seeing Dr. Thomas, a lady, see this link which gives her background etc. Claudia L. Thomas, Leesburg Florida - Non Operative Orthopaedic Medicine & Fracture Treatment They do have an office on 466 in TV.

She is Yale and John's Hopkins - cannot get much better than that!

I can understand your concern about not seeing much of the Dr. himself - that wouldn't sit well with me either; however, if you call his office for an initial consultation you can get in pretty quickly - no 3 month wait. Guess it's a trade off.

There will be a lot of glowing reports for Dr D___ but we had two bad stories. He did a partial knee and it was not feeling right ....we kept saying he is in pain for months and months and months. He kept saying it will get better and said it was a text book case...just perfect. After a year of pain he said...you are allergic to the glue and I have to do it again. This time full knee replacement. If he is allergic to glue what are you going to use to hold it and now it is loose. We paid for tests to see if he was allergic to the glue and he was not. Dr D cancelled the surgery and sent us for another opinion...the doctor he sent us to said you are not allergic to the glue the post or something was not put in correctly. DR D did a second surgery and he is in pain and walks like a duck. We do not know what to do....we checked before and he did 4000 knees we got the 2 bad ones. The other knee will be done by someone else. What bothers us the most is he says everything is perfect and it is not.

After my husband had hip surgery with Dr. D I was telling my own physician here in TV about the fact that we never saw Dr.D after the surgery. He told me that in his opinion the very best ortho surgeon in this area is Dr. Michael Messieh, 13940 N US Highway 441, Ste 501 Lady Lake, FL 32159. He apparently is the person that straightens out most of the "screw ups" left behind by other ortho people. You might try to see if he can help you.

Dr. Michael Messieh, MD - Orthopaedic Surgeon in Lady Lake, FL - Orthopaedic Surgery

You may also want to see someone at Tri-County Ortho.
