What could possibly be eating the black thing that attaches to the downspout and goes to the French drain? I heard noises all last night but thought it was the neighbors dog doing his "one little bark". This morning there is a huge hole in the black thing (sorry I don't know what it's called).

probably a squirrel or rat. They will also eat the rubber stripping at the bottom of your garage door.
