If the letter isn't too long and you don't mind retyping it, try translate.google.com The translation may not be perfect, but you should get a good idea of its contents.

I used the drop down menu to change it from English to Latvian.....(or Latvian to English)

Hope it still shows as such.....

I've used bablefish quite a bit over the past dozen years to translate letters or emails (while doing genealogy research).

Often the translation is a bit comical, as when I was communicating back and forth with an Italian doctor and his son re my ancestors (they belonged to the same family lineage).

........but we "got it" just the same. Understood each other.

Their English was a zillion times better than my non existent Italian.

My change didn't hold. They have quite a large amount of Latvian words in their database.
