First time he's ever "stepped into a tub." It took a lot of this-paw/that-paw on his part. He's been a beach dog, but I'd love to see if he could be enticed to get into a pool.

Can boxers swim? I know one that ran off a dock and sank like a stone! (Was rescued.)

Emma avoids the step thing too, but loves a gradual beach, mostly to rip through the edge at breakneck speed without actually swimming. Boxers CAN swim. Crosby is probably very comfortable and good at it.

Emma, moreso than most in her breed, has an extremely deep, thin chest, that IMO gives her a propensity to hold air in a way that would flip her. So she has a flotation device, but we haven't worked out the anxiety stuff yet.

I have some frozen liver for rewards if you wanna try doggie in the pool swim training. or we could just let them enjoy each other. Sounds like fun just to have you two over...

You're on! He's having a cyst removed next week, so no swimming for a while, but I'll take you up on it! he looooooooves to swim, but is used to gradual beach. Maybe they can learn together.

Kitty - does Emma like to fetch a ball? My Aussie would jump in a vat of oil if I threw the ball that way. He learned to swim very quickly and loves it. On the other hand, my Standard Poodle, supposed to be a water dog, wants no part of it. He fell in a lake
at a very young age and I believe it traumatized him. Such great exercise for them.

no, Emma likes to be chased when she has possession of the toy of the moment, which only she is empowered to choose. She will give it up on command, but has no interest in fetching...love your post...

This is absolutely the CUTEST!!!!! I love that bone shaped pool. And Cros looks so comfy in it. I can't wait to see it in person.
Good luck with his surgery and hope he feels back to his old perky self soon.

Up CR101, past Crispers (Southern Trace Shopping Center) and the New Covenant United Methodist Church as well as the United Church of Christ http://uccatv.weebly.com/. It is up from the UCC about 1/4 a mile just south of the cell tower on the right as you are travelling north. If you reach CR104 you have gone too far as the turn off for Doggie Doo Run Run is just south of the intersection of CR101 and CR104 in Oxford. There's a map for the United Church of Christ at the Villages which will give you an idea where it is. http://uccatv.weebly.com/contact-and-location.html

JaclynC, Doggie Doo Run Run would be a great place for a Jack Russel to run (and I love JRs and the name Jack!). There is a huge field for small dogs, and two huge fields for big dogs and small dogs who don't mind being with big dogs. The wading pool is fenced in so your wet dog can't run out and roll in the yard if you don't want him to.

Where do you live? We are down around 466A, but it is worth the trip. About 20 minutes from our southern digs.
