Default We finally bought a house!

Some may have read my post a few weeks ago after the sinkhole and how we decided maybe to wait, but then a home very near us here in north a Chicago exploded from a natural gas explosion. That showed us anything can happen anywhere and it was game back on for looking. We purchased a new home in Lake Deaton. We bought from here, will close from here and then over the 4th of July we will see our new home. We are not retiring until next year, but hey we now have a house in case we throw in the towel earlier. Oh my gosh we are so excited. It's finally happening.

Congratulations and welcome to TV. We looked for 10 years and made the plunge 2 years ago....various things got in our way throughout the years and it finally fell into place. It's the perfect life for us. I know you will love it.

We bought two years ago, before retirement. Our house has gone up in value at least $25,000 & that is without doing very many of the upgrades we have on our list. So I guess I'm saying, "Welcome! You made a great decision."

That's awesome you bought your home sight unseen. We did get to spend 45 minutes in our house before buying in September and have not been back since. Closing by mail was a breeze with no glitches. Good luck to you and congratulations.

Congratulations! We were one of the first folks to move into Lake Deaton -- nice to have some more neighbors!

Good for you .... It's very exciting moving to The Villages.
It's a wonderful spot. So much fun and very friendly.

Thanks everyone. I have read many posts similar to mine and always thought one day that will be us and now it is. At first I was nervous (but my husband wasn't) about the purchase but now it is exciting and I can't wait to get down there. Through TOTV I have already met a couple of people that we will get together with when we get down there. Where else would we already have people to get to know? And so the journey begins.

It IS very exciting. We came, looked around, bought a home in the frenzy of the moment and that was years ago and now we are coming next month to see the home we haven't seen since. Closing by mail was the easiest part of this whole thing and I am sure it will be for you also. I was nervous right after I bought and reality hit, but I got over it fast and can't wait to move in soon. Can't wait for you to move in also. Good for you. My advise is to start the packing, downsizing if you need to and getting ready as soon as you can- you never think it will be as much work as it turns out to be. Congrats to you!

We are having a big garage sale this weekend in phase #1 of downsizing. The furniture part won't come until we sell our house next year (or sooner if we decide to retire sooner). We have moved a lot in our lives due to work so my philosophy was always "if we haven't used it since our last move then why take it this time".
