Some victims of sex assault are going public in identifying those they say raped them @insidehighered
I saw a story on this last night in passing while cooking dinner for us. http://www.cnn.com/2014/05/14/us/col...pes/?hpt=hp_t3 Let's put this in the context of the Villages and TOTV. What would happen for instance if rapists' names and the circumstances were posted on TOTV? Probably libel suits against TOTV and the posters from the alleged rapists. There is also the problem that some people will say and do almost anything in a fight to win like making false rape accusations, attacking their opponent's mental health, etc. Of course, our administrator would not let something like that happen. I am just troubled that female students went this far as to post the names of alleged rapists on bathroom walls. Would it have been more ethical if they had placed these in a spot where the accused would have access to as well? There were tales of rapists and/or sexual assaults among and between law students at the University of Minnesota Law School while I was there and usually if it was a she said/he said kind of situation or even a he/he said one, the gossip mill would be the only real recourse for the victim and his or her friends especially if the facts would be very grey with respect to whether or not a rape or a sexual assault occurred. Then there is the shame and humiliation often felt when a victim has to tell her or his story which might be even worse if this victim were also a law student who many would see as being very knowledgeable about the law and resources available to victims.
