Last night around 8:15 p.m. I was at Publix on 466. As I was coming out the door there was a white car approaching and a young man in the back seat was hollering very loud out the window to everyone he saw: "Hey, you want to see my *****" (male part). Then one from the front passenger seat got out and went into Publix. The car went down to the other end of the parking lot.
It seemed the guy doing the hollering must have been very drunk, on drugs or maybe both. After I went home it occured to me that perhaps I should report it to Publix and see if they might be interested in calling the sheriff. You know how we often hear in the news about mass shootings and store robberies etc.. And then people wonder why no one ever reported suspicious behavior. So I felt like I did my part by letting someone know about it. How about you? How bad would behavior have to be before you would report it? |

Think this was just someone being stupid. I would not have reported it - unless he exposed himself.

If the guy's bad behavior continued it would have been worth the effort to report him. I would have called the sheriff directly and given them the make model and plate number of this vehicle. I have the sheriffs phone number and Community Watch on my cell phone for that reason.
However it appears that his friends told him to knock if off |

The question would be how his friends were behaving. If they appeared to be high as well, I wouldn't hesitate to call the sheriff. I'm a firm believer that impaired folks shouldn't be behind the wheel of a moving vehicle (car, truck, cycle or cart). If it was just a loud-mouth idiot, I'd just keep on trucking.

I think the bigger question is whether or not they would have investigated it. I was involved in a road rage incident awhile back and the local police refused to do anything. I even gave them a license plate number.

Unless the driver of the car was acting badly and driving "irrationally", I would pass this incident off as just a bunch of kids acting like idiots.
The important behavior is that of the driver unless actually threaten physically by one of the passengers. That would be enough to get me to make a phone call to the police.

This sounds like another one of those things that drunk immatures do. Later in life if they grow up and they survive they will wonder to themselves " how could I have done something so stupid?" I know I did things back then and can't believe I never got caught or that some people let me slide for whatever reason.

After I posted I had a thought: I believe there's a law against public drunkenness and disorderly conduct.
One thing I should have mentioned is that these were not just kids being stupid. These were big guys who looked to be at least in their mid 20s. And it's a bit intimidating/disturbing to be yelled at when you don't expect it. The guy had his head out the window and there was no telling if he was going to get out of the car or if he had a gun or other weapon. Last edited by Villages PL; 05-31-2014 at 03:17 PM. |

I would Call the sheriff . No normal person yells those kind of things out of a car window to people. If this group, was drunk or high they might have pulled out of the parking lot and caused an accident and hurt or killed an innocent person . If there was a problem with these guys the police know how to handle it.

I've never turned anyone in for anything, I either deal with it or let it go.

I would have told the store manager so he could be aware of a potential problem.
