Are there any restrictions in the HOA rules which prevent you from replacing or re-roofing your own home in The Villages? My husband was a contractor for 15 years, and we have been looking at various homes for sale, and noticed many that we love, but also will need a roof in the near future.
This would be a cost saving to us when replacement came necessary. Any information out there would be greatly appreciated! |

I would also check the county for any building requirements.

You can do any repairs to your own home you want, including replacing the roof. You can even do your own plumbing and electrical work. Only need a license if you are hiring out to do that kind of work. As long as it's your home pretty much anything can be done by the owner. If doing things like an addition, you need permits and must follow local building codes and pass all inspections, but you can do the work yourself.
