Just received two calls regarding scheduled Dr's appointments canceling those appointments because of PUP. The appointments were scheduled for tomorrow.

Pup went bankrupt. All policies end June 30th.

The doctor's should honor those appointments till the end of the month, but I guess you can't fight city hall.

Did you work for free? If any physician sees a patient without insurance coverage, they receive no reimbursement whatsoever.

If I have pup insurance NOW and have an appointment tomorrow, how do you figure the dr wouldn't get paid? Supposedly, the insurance is active until June 30th. Wouldn't some legal issues play a part in this?

Since PUP has already declared bankruptcy, the doctors who haven't been paid yet would have to get in line with all the other creditors, probably at the bottom of the barrel. Why would any business want to invest the time making a claim and waiting to be paid, which could be years?

So the folks with PUP are basically without any coverage until July 1st?

Yup. You get what you pay for. As I recall, folks that raved about PUP were *so happy* that they got a full rebate on Medicare premiums (and thus got "free" coverage).

Time to pay the bill.
