Default Golf cart speed

just bought a golf cart...would like to know if there is an easy, I'm not a mechanic, way (maybe a screw driver adjustment) to bump the speed up a couple of MPH....BTW - this cart doesn't reach 15 let alone 20.....THX

Best way is to call the Sumter County Sheriff Office and ask them.

They love to hear from guys who want to go over the 20 mph speed limit for carts!

Depending on the age of you cart engine amount of wear, bumping up the governed speed may not be good idea. usually Cart speed from factory are bumped up by bigger tires and gear ratio change in the transaxle thus keeping the factory governed WOT RPM of the engine ( this is especially important on Factory warranty. Bumping the WOT RPMs above factory spec.s will probably Void any repair costs)

Only you know the condition of the engine and will it take the couple hundred extra RPMs at WOT. You need to know how fast it goes after the adjustment as noted several hundred times on this subject do NOT exceed 20 MPH that includes going down hill.

Be aware that if you still have a warrantee, this will void it.

Unless I read it wrong the OP wants to go 20 MPH on the golf cart. That is about right. We just had our Yamaha in for service with the Villages Golf Carts and they had no problem setting ours to go 20 MPH. Before you take it in take the cart out on a completely flat road and floor it. If it doesn't get up to 20 I would guess they would happily adjust it for you so that it does do 20. If you don't have a Yamaha maybe the store where you bought it will do it under warranty.

You are quite right. The did it for me as well. I made a poor assumption that the OP wished to crank it over 20 mph.

Some do make assumptions and some don't thoroughly read a post. I certainly have done it or hopefully catch myself before I respond.
