Default Training cats to come

I used this method with my kitten to make it come for food. It helped me find her later when she ( an indoor girl) decided to escape outdoors. There are 2 methods, (any cat owner knows they come running for their food )
As soon as cat gets out do the following;
1 I attached long extension cords to my can opener and used it outside ,the grinding sound played over and over.
Cat came back!
2. I would loudly tap the top if the can several times saying " dinner or Yum yum" . Later when this cat escaped
I went out and did the tapping thing.
I was lucky that both times my cats returned.Hope this helps!

I had an indoor cat for 18 years. I filled a hopper once every week or so with dry cat food. I changed the water bowl every day and cleaned the litter box. The cat never was over weight, never begged for food (all it ever knew was dry food). With a new kitten this works great.

It's been my experience that you don't train cats how to do anything....they train you how to best meet their needs. After all, who's really in charge here? Not us!

My two cats are good about coming when they are called. It's a different story if they are in the garage. They love their window perch! This is how I get them out of that window.

Torie loves treats that I keep in a container with a clicking lid. She comes running when she hears the click.

Kaylee likes a string toy that has a flashing light and squeaks! Wherever she is in the house or garage, she comes running to play. I got it in a Walmart in Michigan.

A few years ago, Torie escaped from our condo on St. Augustine Beach for several days. She came home when I put out canned tuna!

Our cat came when you whistled not at dinner time. Just when we wanted to know where she was

I miss my old cat Boots. He would come anytime he heard my voice.
