Default On the 21st I'll turn 60

I know its just a day in the calendar but on the 21st I'll turn 60. It has me thinking about:
My good fortune - how blessed I am.
The people in my life that are gone. My brother, my mom and recently my Dad
The fact that I am 60 and am recognized as an innovator in the use of technology and as result am teaching (and asked to give demonstrations) on how I use technology to succeed in my job.

What I believe is 60 doesn't define who you are or what you can do...what I have found is I like to laugh at myself and life more now then ever...

Am I wrong to think - Ray you did ok? And yeah the dance isn't over...
What did 60 mean to you, if anything.

I wish you had posted this when I turned 60. It's the only birthday that bothered me, and I could have used a kick in the pants to realize how fortunate I am and how much I've accomplished.

Happy birthday in advance!

60 was The Big One to me, too. Looking back, it was not what I made it out to be. I wouldn't go back to 50, and still working, for anything! We just bought our house in TV this spring and can't wait for all the fun when we come back this fall!

RayinPenn,

Thank you for posting this. I am turning 65 the 24th of this month and for the first time in my life, this birthday is bothering me. I think it's because at 65 I am eligible for Medicare. To me nothing says old as much as Medicare. So, thanks to you I will try to remember to look at all the blessings life has given me during these 65 years.

I thought I was old at the time, now I wish I was only 65.

Enjoy being young.

I wasn't happy about turning 60 last month but my husband reminded me that there are only 2 ages - dead or alive.

That's a good one to remember!

To the poster who said Medicare "says" old, I looked at it differently. 60 was hard for me, but then I looked forward to 65. Having decent medical coverage at a much reduced price set me free to take better care of myself.
