Default Dental question.

I ask this because we are in the process of moving to TV. Had a dentist appointment today and I need a crown, crack in a old filling, the crown is $900.00 here and I was wondering what a crown is in TV. The reason I ask is that if I have the crown done here we will only be here about ten days after it is done so if there is a problem it would be my problem. I am thinking of waiting until we move to have it done then than I would have the advantage of the local Dentist.

I am pretty sure it was a crown I had placed here that was about 1200.00 (included the crown and building the base?)which I thought was very expensive, More than we would have paid where we were from. I think my dentist is priced middle of the road. We talked to a dentist when we first got here, and even though we are both avid brushers, flossers, and always did the 2 trips to the dentist a year. It was going to cost 10K to "fix" both my husband's teeth and mine. Needless to say, we did not return, and the next dentist didn't find any of the same problems.

We just arrived 2 weeks ago and my husband developed a toothache that was a problem from before we moved. He went to a dentist here in TV and was told he needed a crown and it would cost $1300. Hope this info helps you.

Just went to dentist in Bushnell (about half hour from villages) and had the best exam I ever had from a dentist. I need a crown and cost is about $600. Very happy with dentist and facility. Will see how things go.

Can you give the name of the dentist in Bushnell?

if it were me I'd stay where you are especially if you have confidence in your current dentist. I do believe my crown was $1200.00 & then 2 yrs later tooth ached...root canal and re-crowned for $1600.00

I just had my third crown 'installed' by Serenity Dental Spa. About $1100 for the last one. They have a slick way to create a crown in one 2-hour visit. Oversimplified, they take a 3D digital image of your bad tooth, carve away the bad part, take a second 3D image of the stump and then they machine a ceramic crown that looks like the difference between the two 3D images. Very slick process. 352-350-1933

I don't think anyone has mentioned the fact that not all crowns are made of the same materials. I believe some are made of base metal with a porcelain covering and some are noble metals (silver, gold, etc.) with no porcelain cover (for back teeth).

Crowns made of noble metals cost more.

$1100-1200 seems to be the going rate. Don't look for bargains when it comes to your teeth. A cheap crown could be made in Mexico or China. Some dentist send their lab work to these countries. Buyer beware!

Default crowns

KUDOs to you Sage. Yes, all crowns are not created equally. There are crowns made of base metal, precious metal, semi precious metal, noble metal, high noble metal....the cost so varies. Value who you are, what you can and want to afford...remember that you need these teeth for a very long time. The individual who is asking this question about 'who the dentist is' for the least expensive crown should really be asking the dentist....'WHAT KIND OF CROWN WOULD YOU PUT IN YOUR MOUTH?"

Yes, I worked in a dental practice.

That's very true, but I have heard very good things about Bushnell Dental practice from a couple of different sources, and sometimes it does make a difference if you go "off campus" for some services.

I agree with you about the off campus. I, too, go outside TV.
