Default Know of any local pet rescues?

I was in The Red Door in Wildwood yesterday and anyone that has been there knows the owner is a dog lover and she brings her two dogs to work. Earlier this week a stray dog wandered into her yard and she fed and bathed it. It is such a nice, friendly dog and she is very reluctant to call animal control as she is afraid they will euthanize the dog. Are there any local shelters that might find this dog a good home? Thanks for your knowledge!

I thought I read that Marion County Humane Society is a no-kill shelter.

She can contact the Humane Society/SPCA of Sumter County at 352-793-9117 to see if anyone has emailed a photo or "lost dog" ad. We often get both the "found dog" & "lost dog" posters as we try to reunite people with their pets. If no one has claimed it since the original posting date and she can no longer keep it, we suggest always contacting our HS/SPCA if we have room to take it into our custody for adoption. We are a "no-kill" shelter (with the exceptions of terminal illness/pain or aggression towards a person/animal risking safety). 352-793-9117
