Smile Pools

Being somewhat new to the Villages I am left puzzled by what I have seen all to often at some of the pools. I see people who have just completed either Pickleball, Bocce Ball, Bike Riding and Running etc. sweating profusely come into the pool area and just jump in...No Shower!

So my question, being that these people are using this time to substitute a bathtub or real shower.....How safe is the pool water?

Heresay as it is, I have been told that the Chlorine kills any germs? Also that there is some degree of salt content which is somewhat of a bacteria killer.

I have had one doctor tell me that it is not safe in any pool because of possible bacteria and/or possible parasite infection.

I know that bad habits/bad behavior of using the pools as bathtubs is very hard to control BUT, HOW SAFE ARE WE?

Any Experts out there!

Topic has been discussed previously - try doing a search on the topc - you'll find responses there.

Did the research before and after your responses. The quote you reference is a banned response by the TOV.

So, again any response as to the safety factor would be appreciated!

Dynsol, what you described has been going on forever in all pools everywhere. You and I and everyone have survived. Just relax and enjoy yourself - as everyone is doing.

I've never seen what you've described, but I tend to not worry much about it. I got to the pool almost daily--have never had an infection or anything. Based on my personal experience, I'm guessing they're pretty safe.

Public pools aren't necessarily everyone's cup of tea. Maybe your own private pool would be more comfortable for you.

Expert pool advice may not be available on TOTV, but this post nets it out nicely.

A couple I know and love are making a tour of all of the pools in all of the Villages. The girls are having a great deal of fun and have remained quite healthy. I have been invited to join them and will as soon as I am swimmable. (some very minor health issues)

We have used both Odell pools a lot and now that we have moved we use Tall Trees. On occasion when our grandson visits we go to the Lake Miona pool. Not once have I seen anyone hogging the pool with exercise classes or jumping in all sweaty and dirty.

What pool is it that you speak of OP? Perhaps you could contact the recreation department.

A swim in all of the TV pools is a great idea. Has anyone done it? It sounds like fun!

Wish I could afford one!

First, it is not a website. Second if if one attempts to respond to the 1st quote it shows as removed!

It's not a website, it's a link to a previous thread. Njbchbum was trying to be helpful.
The thread has a variety of posts so that you're aware of previous discussions.
I think most public pools have a lot of bacteria-killing chemicals added.

Thanks...As I indicated I did research before /during and after the post hopeing for an educated response. I did read all of the threads. I know I cannot change bad behavior but I was hoping. Previous threads proved that to be true also.

Thanks to all and good Luck!
