Question Confused about cable south of 466A

Last week we bought a new home in the village of Hillsborough and close 9/19.

We want cable once we move early this winter. Are BOTH Brighthouse and Comcast available south of 466A?

When I search their online sites neither seems to show service at our new zip code.

We are very unique, as we don't hate Comcast. We would like to stay with Comcast and keep our e-mail. Their customer service may not be the best, but they have delivered a relatively consistant set of products. We have been customers for many years.

Here in our area the cable companies each have their own franchise area. Wired cable companies don't compete against each other. ATT Uverserse and satelite companies do compete with the cable company.

Thanks. TOTV has been so informative in trying to understand the lifestyle in TV.

We moved into the Village of Charlotte in April 2012 and had considerable difficulty with various vendors and services because our zip code was not recognized by their computer systems and our street didn't show up in GPS. I would recommend that you call Comcast directly and even then you may have to insist that your address is valid. It is my understanding that Comcast is available to every new house built in TV - it is the loop of black coax cable sticking out of a pipe on the side of the house. If you change your mind and decide to go with a satellite service, be fore-warned that installing a dish on your roof will void your roof warranty.

Moved in Hillsborough last week, selected Bright House and so far so good. Not a fan of Comcast, have had issues with them in past when we rented for the winter. Century Link is also a solid provider and available here. I chose Bright House for the capability of their DVR. The great thing is that we have choices which isn't always available in other areas. I kept my email stuff with my previous provider in PA, costs a couple more bucks that way but it takes email out of the equation for cable and phone service.

I am in Lake Deaton & we have Brighthouse & have had no problems. There is a rep Lysander Jimenez who will give you most of your first month free. Do a search on his name. You can also put service on hold if you are not there full time. Equipment stays in your home. There is a one time fee to set this service up.

We wanted more than a 2 channel DVR box....Century Link won't have that available until the end of the year (earliest), Bright House has it now (6 Channel). We have two boxes, one for my wife and one for me as we have different viewing preferences. All the vendors provide whole house capability but that application doesn't work for us. COMCAST was an option but based on past customer service issues up north and while renting down here. they were not a consideration so not sure if they have a larger individual DVR or not. Downside on Bright House is their email client is antiquated and they have an issue with entry into their customer service department (which they are trying to resolve) but when you do get in their personnel are knowledgeable and professional (at least so far). The nice thing about competition is if you aren't satisfied you can always go to another service.
