Default Hip Replacement Experience

I would like anyone who has had a hip replacement here in Florida to give me your experience, the Doctor who performed the surgery, problems that led to surgery, recovery time, etc. Thanks for your help!

hi Kathy
I haven't had my done yet. I am schedule for Oct. 3, in Ocala. The Orthopedic Institute is doing the surgery. Dr. Rodgers is the surgeon I chose on recommendations form my primary health care provider and friends . Be sure to ask what method of surgery they want to do.
I decided on the anterior method, which will cut down my recovery time. I would suggest that you research it. There are several videos on u-tube of the procedure and also animations The Orthopedic Institute web site. I'll let you know how mine came out when it is done.

In all the threads regarding hip and knee surgery there is little mention of who the manufacturer of the implant is. Believe me, they are not all created equally. Design, metallurgy, instrumentation, and physician support vary from company to company. It's another factor to research. FYI, Stryker and Zimmer have huge R andD budgets and stringent manufacturing standards.

Thank you for your response, Pete. Can you tell what your symptoms are that led you to surgery? Good luck with your surgery!

I started to have pain in my right hip over period of six months or so. It got steadily worse, causing me to cut down on physical activity. Finally I went to primary care Dr . Long story short was x-ray showed bone on bone in my hip socket. Don't wait, get it checked out.
