Default Widening 466A

I wonder what is going to happen to the homes and businesses along the 3 miles of 466A between TV and 441 when they start to widen it. Two of my favorites, Mystic ice Cream and Burke's BBQ are there. I think the widening is supposed to start next month. Will they be able to stay in business?
AND when will they ever finish the other end, going into Wildwood??

East direction has already started. Cutting trees and moving utilities.

It is my understanding that the widening is not going all the way to 441.
I'm sure a few of the regular posters know more information because I think it was on
TOTV where I originally read that the widening was not going all the way through.

I could be wrong, but I seem to remember reading that supplemental funding was made available to go all the way to 441. It was a substantial amount because properties need to be purchased under eminent domain for the project.

I would think "eminent domain" would apply for all the property on both sides of the current road if it must, but I don't think this would effect Burke's or Mystic. They seem to be far enough from the current roadway so that they could remain. But what do I know?

Governor Scott added the funds necessary to complete the final portion of the 466A widening when he signed the state budget last spring.

Since moving here, I've discovered FL has 2 seasons, hot and road construction. Anyone agree?

Coming from upstate NY where they have to get the job done before the bad weather hits, it amazes me how long it takes for road construction here in Florida.

how quickly we forget: 466A was widened from buena vista to powell road in about 3 months, start to finish including landscaping. that would have taken 2 years in pennsylvania. and what about building construction: the new publix next to brownwood will be opening this month; that is about 6 months since the project was announced. in pennsylvania that would have taken 3 or 4 years. the 466A project through fruitland park will probably be completed quickly. lighten up.
and that's my opinion.

Travelguy,
I was think more about some of the projects that never seemed to end, PA turnpike, Route 81, the Schuykill Expressway, and the Blue Route (aka 476). I do like your points about some of the buildings. We were not around for the 466a work, but 466a to 301 seems to be taking a very long time, it will be a year in mid October.
Anyway, I was just trying to inject some humor, looks like I failed.
I hope you are correct with the work on 466a to 441, we take this 3 times per week, and I am currently researching alternatives.

The only alternative will be to go up Morse or Buena Vista to 466.
P.S. They should have done this widening years ago.

Now Jeanne, Why should they have done this widening years ago? It was an adequate road leading from Fruitland Park to Wildwood.

We didn't have a soul living south of 466A only FOUR years ago, maybe THREE. It was only a gleam in Gary's eye.
