Default Hurrah for Scotland

Cheers to the cooler heads who rejected the vote for Scottish independence

The markets all across the world reacted favorably to the result, so it was not just Scotland being impacted on this vote, it would have impacted the world economy.

What amazed me was the 85% turnout. Can you imagine anything in America being important enough to get that kind of turnout?

BBC News - Referendum moments: A 'Horrible History' of Scotland

I found this very amusing. A very short history of Scotland.

Some strange stories coming out about the voting system in Scotland this week. An English girl, starting her first year at University was sent voting papers, new East European workers given a right to vote, (Scots cannot vote in their countries)
All the Scots living south of the border complaining that they can not vote, in my mind the voted with their feet when they left!!
Lets see what happens now??

Please tell us more. It seems that you are not happy with how the vote went? How do you read the attitude of most British citizens. Do most agree or disagree?

I think we must remember our history and the "American Revolution"...how many lives lost just to keep us from being British subjects. How many castles does the queen have?...she is also the richest woman in the world. Not to mention all the other royals, and their entourage, that the people are supporting.

According to Forbes, the queen does not even make the top 20 list of rich women. The richest is Christy Walton at $36.7 billion and the queen with a paltry $500 million. The nation owns most of the jewels and lands and castles that are used by the royalty.

A bit worrisome, though, that the "child" votes came dangerously close to a poorly thought out and potentially calamitous change.

Just as in this country, the mostly low knowledge and pitifully sparse life-experienced and increasingly immature young adults can vote for policies and politicians that can wreck a country.

We have ties in the UK and were told that anyone living in Scotland had the right to vote, but that true Scottish born citizens living and working in England were not allowed to vote. I think Cameron has a great deal of explaining to do, he almost gave this election away.

I am sure most of the assets are hidden....why cant her subjects use the castles, after all they are the ones paying the tax to support them. And how did England acquire this wealth...by taking over other countries and stripping them of their natural resources and land.

As a Scot living in Scotland I took great pride in voting "Yes". We need a fairer society being able to raise our own money rather being given a hand-out each year from Westminster. At the moment we hand over all our money, and a formula based on population and landmass, decides how much we get.
Over 90% of those eligible to vote registered and as said previously the turn-out was around 85%. No guns, no fights, no police, no army.
The 16 and 17 year olds were one of the most informed groups with special debates being laid on to allow them to participate.
I could go on at length but will give my typing finger a rest.

Our friends in Scotland thought, discussed and debated what their answer would be for over 2 years. They were also proud to vote yes.
