Default Trip to St. Andrews, Scotland

Four of us are thinking of taking a golfing trip to St. Andrews. Does anyone have any tips, advice, or info for us regarding travel agency used, where to stay, best time of year to go, what courses to play, etc.?

Sweetie says to tell you to take plenty of warm clothes.

If you're expecting to play golf at the Old Course, look for travel agents that can book tee times. You can find them online or in the classifieds of popular golf magazines. Not sure any more, but the Old Course may require you to have a certified golf handicap.
Much depends on the time of the year you are going. As graciegirl posted, take warm clothes, even in summer. Also rain gear. It rains often in St. Andrews, kind of like here. Take a lot of money too. The exchange rate has been horrible for Americans. Your souvenir tee shirt may end up costing you U.S. $60; to say nothing of the greens fees.
