Default choosing a landscaping company

We have a courtyard villa and are ready to have landscaping done. If you were to choose two or three companies for estimates - who would you call?

Comments on Village Palms and Tomas Landscaping?

We can tell you who NOT to go with. If a Joe Preston, who claims to have a business called CreatEscape, don't hire him. He will take your money and never do the job!!! He comes looking for landscaping jobs late in the day and on weekends! We have a police report on him for fraud and are pursuing legal action.

Default Landscaper- Choices

I, as most Villagers, asked the same question. I drove the neighborhoods to look at the hard scape designs and types of plantings of the various companies. I then invited 3 of the companies I liked the best to offer a design. Once I was happy with the design, which was a combination from the 3 companies, I then had each of the firms to offer a quote on the exact/same design. This way you compare pricing on the same project elements. There was up to 30% price difference on a $7,000 project. I went with Village Palms and have been pleased with their work 1-1/years later. Wendy's creative design was the foundation for the project and was the reason her company got the job! The team of installers were professional and efficient. Wendy was on the site each day and made a few changes to the hard scape and placement of the plants. What looked good on paper did not exactly fit nor looked good in person. Who ever you choose, make sure the design has been approved by the Architectural Review Committee so there are no problems later on and the company has the necessary insurances. Hope this helps!

We just had our landscaping done by Jamie's Landscaping. He's a nice guy and did a fabulous job. We didn't have to pay a cent until the job was done and we were satisfied. He came over and set our sprinkler system to make sure the plantings were adequately watered... and said he will be back in 2 weeks to adjust it again. I would highly recommend him.

Be very leery of landscaping companys that want up front or down payment money before they start a job.
