Default Midnight power outages

We are in Gilchrist and the past few nights our power has gone off for 10 sec or so at midnight or later. It just happened again, now at 0140.

The entire block is dark, street lights are out when the outage occurs. Last night watching a late football game from the west coast, it knocked out our DTV and it took 5-10 minutes for it to find the server and restart.

We have a surge protector on the video equip, and a whole house surge protector from SECO, but it can't be good for the built in appliances.

Woah, another brown out just now. Guess I'll call SECO and see what is going on.

Anyone else have issues with this, or are we the only night owls??

Lightning hits, burglaries, and power outages! Sounds like the better place to buy would be in the middle around Caroline or Mallory Hill, doesn't it?

It sounds like the electric company hooking up new power lines because the outage is so short.

Dotti, each time that the utilities have been connected to a new area those nearby have experienced these power interruptions. I think they do it at night mostly to not cause too much inconvenience but they happen each time a new area is connected to the power grid. It will happen again for the next two or three weeks. Setting clocks etc is annoying but it isn't dangerous.

Here is an old thread on the same subject.

Thanks Gracie!
I see that there is another new thread asking about the same issue. Your explanation makes perfect sense. These incidents in the last few days were not weather related, so I was miffed. I was just worried about the frequency and the hit our appliances might take. Hope those surge protectors do their job!
