Default We're Trying to Move a Bedroom Set and Car from NJ to TV

We are TV newbies looking for someone who is moving furniture from NY/NJ area to The Villages and has room on their moving truck. We have just 1 bedroom set but it is much too expensive for us to move one room of furniture. We are flexible with moving dates (Oct-Dec) and willing to pay a fair amount thereby reducing your moving costs.
Separately, we also have a small car that we'd like to trailer down to The Villages so if someone has the ability to help with that we'd like to hear from you.
Thanks for reading and for any help you can provide.

Have you checked on a POD? It's the cheapest way to move furniture over a long distance that I have found. Lowe's has a similar container too. I see lots of newbies using the POD.

Perhaps the auto train may be an option for getting your car here. It runs between Lorton Virginia (near DC) and Sanford FL.

Yep I too would recommend the auto train. I have taken it quite a few times back and forth between the villages and VA. It takes as long as it would to drive about 17hrs from No. VA.
But you can get several options from just a coach seat to a family or handicap bedroom arrangement. Plus you get dinner, movie & breakfast included in price. You can fit alot of stuff in your car that you would want to bring down.
But just take a small overnight case for the train, since you will not have access to your car once it is loaded.
Although a plane may be quicker you end up paying less for the train and get more for your $$ and a refreshing break from driving and airport hassles. Plus you have your own car when you arrive. The trip from the Sanford train station to the villages is only about 1 hr.

Are you comfortable to drive a small U-HAUL truck with your furniture and a car carrier attached to it?

Auto Train for 1 with a sleeper one way is $439 according to the Amtrak site.

Thanks -- You have all given us some good options. I called to find out costs of some of the suggestions and we'll be making a decision shortly.

Default Auto-train is NOT cheaper than air fare

I am taking the auto-train for our 3 months in The Villages this winter because I will pay less for the train plus car than I would pay for a flight plus rental car for 3 months. Auto-train cost me $964 for the round trip, which is much more than airfare of $300 or less for a round trip. But since we'll have our own car for 3 months, there's no car rental. I figured it out that it takes about 6 weeks of not renting a car to break out even on the auto-train dealer over flight plus rental car.

As for the bedroom set, sometimes it's cheaper to sell the furniture and buy new after you arrive. I would check that part out, too, unless you're sentimentally attached to your furniture.

The OP was trying to figure out the best way to transport a car to TV, so a cost comparison between the auto-train and flying does not really seem to be of relevance to him.

I concur with your comment about the furniture. Best of luck to the OP in finding inexpensive options.

The Auto Train prices vary with time of year.
