Default Check your thermostat Battery

i'm not sure if you know but I certainly didn't that there are batteries inside of digital thermostats in the house. In Endicott New York it was 35 this morning and we woke up and it was cool in the house looked at my thermostat and it was only at 61° instead of 68 and the battery low indicator was on. Replaced the batteries in the thermostat and it start working again. If we had left for Florida as we usually do at this time I think our pipes would have frozen when it really got cold with the furnace not coming on, so my recommendation is check or replace the thermostat batteries. Btw they do last a very long time, years since I think they are some sort of backup.
