Default Dermatologists in The Villages

Has anyone used Dr Michael Bonds or Dr Thi Tran as their dermatologist? Good or bad comments? Any other recommendations?

Better half used Dr Tran...he is reputed to be very good and BH found him to be thorough and good. Be prepared to wait a long time to get an appt. Haven't heard of the other guy.

I was at Dr tran yesterday for the first time. I never saw him. I saw his nurse. I was told first appointments you don't see him. Only if there is a problem found??? They were very nice. My insurance does not cover office visits( I am not on medicare yet) . They charged $112 for office visit and $83 for one squirt of that cold stuff for one little brown spot. As I was sitting in the waiting room 6 people came in one right after another and told the receptionist that they were there for a "procedure". I could not help but ask the the receptionist if everyone gets the same appointment??? They all came in at the same time and there is only one doctor. She laughed and did not answer me??????
I am not real confident that the nurse knows what she is looking for??? I don't know???For $200 I would have liked to see the doctor !!!!! You take it from there !!!!!

I go to Dr. Michael Freeman. He is very kind, very thorough and VEEERRRRYYYY prompt. There have been times that I have been done and outside before my scheduled appointment time. I had an emergency over a weekend. He returned my call at home and told me to be in his office at 7 a.m. Monday. When I arrived, HE had pulled my files and the nurses were waiting for me. He has an office in Ocala and one in The Villages.

My two cents and I'm please to insert them.

BTW his squirts, I think are around 60 or 65.

Address and/or phone number for Dr. Freeman, please? We are on our way home to a semi-emergency appt with my regular dermatologist for the day after we arrive (this coming Tuesday); as a melanoma survivor, seeing something new on me can be a nervous experience. I called a local dermatologist who was on the list we were given at our Villages orientation (we're in Belvedere off CR-466) recently to ask about seeing the MD quickly not for a complete exam but only for this one area to be examined (as my MD at home would do--and not just for me as an existing patient) and was told that he works ONLY on referral, that I would have to see an MD trained in emergency care first who would make the determination if I should be seen--and I would then be seen ONLY IF I COULD BE SQUEEZED IN! How much training do emergency care MDs have in recognizing melanoma?... Since we're going to be spending more and more time at TV, I need someone I can rely on. Thanks!

I have been to Dr. Fernando Serra who is a dermatologist and also a plastic surgeon. His prices did not seem to me to be any more than those quoted above. He has removed several skin cancers from my face and did an excellent job. His office was in Leesburg but now I believe he has an office in The Villages....I'm not sure where but I need to find out because I need another appointment with him. My skin cancers have not been dangerous ones, but I trust Dr. Serra to find out if they are melonoma.
