Default Garage Door Opening on its own!

Some of the neighbors garage doors have been opening on their own at random times. They have tried changing their codes in case someone has a door opener that is triggering their door to open but it has not helped. The houses are spread out down the street that this is happening to so they not all next door to each other. Just now we were sitting in our kitchen and our garage door opened on its own. Some think it might be someone's cell phone. Does anyone have a solution to this? We hate to have to lock our garage door on the wall key pad in the garage every time we go away because then we can't open it with the remote when we come home.

If these are new homes, the doors and openers have a 1 year warranty. I would go back to the home warranty department and ask for this to be fixed. If out of warranty, and changing codes has no worked, then more extensive testing will be needed.

Our opener opened our door and the neighbors door. Their opener did the same thing. Until both openers were reprogrammed the problem persisted. Have you discussed it with the other home owners that have the same problem? You may all have to change the code to correct the situation.

The same thing happened to us when we first moved in. We thought we were going crazy. We knew we closed our door but we'd come home and it would be open. Turns out it needed to be reprogramed. The warranty office sent someone over to take care of it.

The MVP garage door openers are garbage. Go to Home Depot or Lowes and get a name brand. They are far more secure. They work with universal remotes and they can even work with iPhone and Android Apps to remotely monitor and control your garage door.

when you do reprogram, make certain there isn't any road traffic,
we reprogrammed twice, a car passed by and we got on their signal.

Default you can fix it

As we closed our door one time, next door neighbor was opening theirs - it somehow reset ours to their code also, and would open whenever they opened or closed theirs. MVP emailed the manual and I reprogrammed it (with their help on the phone). No problem since.

I agree it's probably not the greatest gdo.
