Default Andrew Tahmooressi is free.

Andrew Tahmooressi is back in the USA after spending about 200 days in Mexican prison. We can all be happy for him and his family.

A couple of things, though. All the articles about him over that time period said he suffers from severe PTSD. Is a person with diagnosed severe PTSD allowed to own, carry, and transport weapons and ammunition legally?

Next, he was always referred to as a Marine sergeant. I thought he was discharged in 2012.

Glad he is back in America and can get all the mental health treatment he will need. I am sure 200 days in Mexican prison would add to PTSD a lot.

Could this be the "October Surprise" a lot of people were looking for? Will we be hearing about all the "behind the scenes activity" for the next three days? Photo ops?

Administration did little to nothing to secure the release of this man. Montel Williams, Greta Van Sustern, and former Governor Richardson of NM probably did more than anyone. I am so happy for him and his family being reunited - finally.

O.K. I don't know anything about this issue either. I heard that an ex Marine was captured and was held by the Mexican government.

Now he is free. Is he free at this moment because it is a good thing at election time?

If he looked like he could have been someone's son, he would have been home in days.

I believe hearing after he had been in prison just a few days that the Marines called him back to duty.

There is some hatred here too that I don't understand.

Don't believe the election has anything to do with one Gracie. As I said in an earlier post Montel Williams and Greta Van Sustern (FOX news) kept beating the drum to get him released. He took a wrong turn and ended up in Mexico - he told the federales he had guns with him and they threw him in jail. Greta Van Sustern actually drove the route he took to show how easily the mistake he made could happen to anyone. Congress had a hearing demanding his release, but not sure if that had anything to do with it or not. Not sure why the former Governor of New Mexico was involved unless he had some connection with someone in Mexico. It was a horrible situation and my heart absolutely broke for the Marine and his mother who felt her please for help fell on deaf ears - if you get my drift.

Gotcha. Involved with other things which we shouldn't mention because it would be political.

From who and about what?

I saw no hatred. The man got out of prison for making an error in judgement, never was tried in Mexico, his family, a couple of television personalities, and a former governor made pleas to get released and he was. It took over 200 days.

A question was asked and answered regarding PTSD.

Where was there any hatred?

I think many see comparisons between this case and the Bowe Bergdahl situation as regards the interest shown in the WH. One's family was kept well advised on everything, and the WH presented Bergdahl as some sort of hero, while the marine in Mexico had a mother who was pretty much on her own (I think he spent two honorable tours in Afghanastan).

Whether that comparison is fair or not, Washington made no attempt to dispel those feelings in anyway.

This, in my opinion created much friction.
