Default 1 World Trade Center

I World Trade Center opened today. It's a great day for our country and an example of our spirit for the world to see.

My wife and I both worked downtown in Manhattan and we agree with you completely.

Thanks for starting this Thread . I too worked in lower Manhattan for many years and the final leg of my commute each day was to take a PATH Train into and from the deep basement of the WTC .
I loved the Twin Towers and often took a long walk through the massive Plaza during lunch time .
By 1985 I had relocated to Upstate NY but spent Sunday night through Thursday nights at the Vista International Hotel which was over 20 stories high and was attached to the backside of and connected to both Towers .
Also for several years CNN had their NY Broadcasting HQ on the street floor of one of the Towers . The studio was glassed in and easily visible by the large number of visitors and commuters who passed through the Towers each day .

I saw it from the BQE a few nights ago-it took my breath away.

maybe now it will be the focus of Manhatten shots like the twin towers used to be......it certainly is much more majestic than naything else around and is notable for the not forgetting what it was built in tribute to.....

The Twin Towers were more easily recognized, but I never considered them beautiful.

The new tower is beautiful and elegant. To me it stood out from the skyline while at the same time embracing it.

The 100 story Aon (formerly Standard Oil) building in Chicago reminds me of one of the Twin Towers. When in Chicago I have a hard time looking at it, as the memory still haunts me.
