Question Extended Healthcare Plans for Canadians

Looking into what extended healthcare plan I should obtain from Canada so that I am covered during my stay in The Villages this winter . Are there any Canadians with previous experience that could guide me . This will be our first
extended stay since we retired
Any help would be most appreciated .

Question Clarification

We are a Canadian couple who are going to be spending two months in The Villages this winter . I was just trying to find out which of the Canadian Based medical plans are accepted by CFHA . Medipac , Sun Life , TD Insurance ?
I had heard that there can be issues if companies are not preapproved .

You might want to talk to The Villages Health directly.....the call should be brief.

You should PM Barefoot. They are Canadian, own a place in TV, and buy insurance every year. She knows some things you should be careful about.

Thanks for your PM. I absolutely have a fountain of information on this subject.
This is the first year we have had to buy Travel Insurance; since 2007 we've always been covered by Fireboy's work policy.
So I spent days this Fall doing research, talking to hospitals, getting quotes, and talking to other Canadian Snowbirds.
I got quotes from Medipak, CAA, CARP, Manulife Financial, a private Insurance Broker, you name it.
There is an online company called Kanetix where you can fill out a questionnaire and they will offer a choice of Insurance Providers with prices.
I found their information valuable. It can be misleading; but it's a stepping stone to other products.

I checked with Munroe Regional Center in Ocala, which would probably be my hospital of choice if I were ever to have a medical crisis.
The woman in Patient Care informed me they take NO out-of-country medical plans. None at all.
When I insisted that she talk to her Supervisor, I was put on hold for five minutes.
When she came back to the phone, she said that Munroe takes ALL out-of-country medical plans.
So your medical information is only as good as the person on the other end of the telephone that day.

I called The Villages Hospital and they insisted they don't have a list of plans they accept.
However they did venture that with some plans they might require a deposit as the plans are known to be poor payers.
In frustration, I finally talked to a "Fair Payment for Hospitals" Consultant that negotiates payment for hospitals with "difficult" plans.
He was a wealth of information.

I will send you a PM with more detailed information.
