Default Worst Drivers?

With all the discussion on TOTV about how bad much of the driving is, I thought you might be interested in this listing of the 25 towns with the worst driving. No, TV isn't on the list. If you continue reading, there is a second list of the 25 cities with the best driving. TV isn't there either. Maybe things here aren't so unusual after all. Metro Boston drivers named the worst in America, again - AOL.com

Having commuted to Boston from southern New Hampshire for over 20 years, I can agree with the list. Driving in TV is a piece of cake.

While I lived in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area I noticed the worst driven autos were those having MA plates.

I believe it. Years ago I worked in Kenmore Square. One day we had a perfect storm. Afternoon rush hour traffic enhanced by an afternoon Red Sox game letting out. The square was gridlocked. Then we heard the ambulance and saw it trying to get through the mess. Drivers were jockeying to try to make room, and just when it looked like a path was clearing, one idiot pulled forward to block the ambulance. One of the attendants in the front seat jumped out and started banging on the guys car until he backed up and let them through.

When I moved to CA and went to the DMV for my license, they asked where I was coming from. I told them Boston. They'd asked how many accidents I had been involved in. I told them none. They said I didn't need a road test and gave me my license!

The traffic reporter in a helicopter got so mad one day at the drivers he suggested they give him balloons of red paint he could drop on cars doing idiotic things. Then he could call the State Police and tell them to ticket the cars with the red paint on them!

Was the guy in the helicopter Joe Greene?

BUT you forget that all those bad drivers from the ten states with the worse drivers have relocated either full or part time to The Villages and they are the bigger share of transplants. To acerbate the situation the roads in and around The Villages are not built to accommodate cowboys

It's true, the northeast represents more then 40% of the population.
But what many others consider overwhelming traffic, we see as a slight delay.

Show me where you got your facts that the northeast re-locators are the problem.

Try driving in the Philippines some time and then come here and complain.

The roads in The Villages are well designed and easy to drive.

Joe's wife was an RN who worked with my wife. as they say in MA, he was a piece of work. And a wicked nice guy!

And here's your traffic report from Joe Greene. WBZ, Radio 103

First I didn't use the word re-locators I said transplants. We are creatures of habits bad driving habits in the northeast bad driving habits in the southeast.

I am from Minnesota and there we have no four way stops because people are so polite that no one would ever move..."No, please you go first", No please you go...........

I have a friend who passed away at a four way stop in MN. They found his skeletal remains in his car with his blinker still going after he left home to get milk. So sad.

Where are the facts that northeast transplants have bad driving habits in The Villages? Just a hunch, but the people from the northeast who see what makes this place, the place to be are not the north east drivers you are lumping us into.

I agree Tom. As a Bostonian who learned how to drive in Boston, I'll admit I had an accident 1 month after I got my license at 16. I backed into a light pole in a parking lot. And have not had an accident since. I'm primarily a defensive driver who is very suspicious of those in rotaries and those when seated in a car whose heads are not higher than the steering wheel.
