Default Tree Lighting At Spanish Springs Last Night

I went to the tree lighting at SS last night and it was very nice, and crowded. I was amazed the lights on the tree were so uniformed, and spaced correctly. A very nice ceremony. The tree was beautiful.

I was lucky to find a space in the parking lot and someone left the ceremony, just as I needed a seat.

A nice event to be out and about. The weather was nice and it sure beats Times Square on New Years Eve.

I went to it last year and it was crowded at that time too. We couldn't even get into the square, we had to stand on the sidewalk outside the square. We were on the side where we only could see the backs of the performers. From a distance we couldn't really see much of anything. The music was loud and the people around us were talking very loud so as to try to be heard over the loud music.

It was very annoying, to say the least, having people standing next to you talking as loud as they could. It wasn't the least bit fun in my opinion. But I sensed that others were thrilled to be holding their candles and swaying back and forth to the music. La-de-da!

The actual lighting of the tree was a big anti-climax. I thought, "we waited with anticipation all this time, getting our ears blown out, for this????"

No more tree lighting events for me. If I want to see the tree, I'll go on some other night.

how can there be crowds and festivities and music and crowds and revelers reveling and people swaying and reveling without the accompanying "noise"......lighting of the tree....OFF then ON!!!! Tah-dah!!!!!!!!!! Sounds like some missed a good time had by most!!

For me the crowds and the reveling and the singing and the swaying and the crowds and the reveling and just being merry is what it is all about.....the saying was never more true than at at Christmas function where people enjoy each other making merry....wishing all a MERRY CHRISTMAS.

To each his own.....the tree lighting was, as it has been every year a terrific outing to enjoy one's friends and neighbors for that something special time of year!

I'm with you. Even though we had to stand for about an hour, we had a fun time with all the people around us. The atmosphere was quite festive, the moods were elevated and fun was had by all whom we could see.

BTW, was that a drone circling around overhead? That even added some "mystery" to the evening.

It was a magical night. The weather was great. We met new friends and thoroughly enjoyed the evening and the entertainment. Loved the sing along with Billie Thatcher and the atmosphere with the candles was indescribable.

We plan on going to Brownwood tree lighting. About what time do they light the tree? We want to take our son who recently had back surgery and can't stand or sit for long periods. We would like to arrive close to the time the tree will be lit.

7 PM or shortly thereafter. I believe the SS lighting happened around 7:15 PM.
