Default Garage floor needs painting...

We have decided to paint our garage floor. I am looking for advice on what you do with all the things in your garage while you are painting. Someone said to put in the house or put outside. Husband doesn't like that idea.
Is there anyone that paints garage floors that moves the items to one side, paints, moves back and paints other side? Would appreciate any suggestions.

Good idea, but if I were doing a quote for the job, the full labor price would be in there twice.

Our neighbors had someone come in to do their garage floor who brought a trailer and put everything from the garage in it while they did the floor.

I was told, (but could not verify) that Tim Miller of "Tim the Toolman" fame can bring a trailer onsite and load much of your garage contents in the trailer while he does your floor. You might want to check with him on that. You could also temporarily keep some of your "stuff" in the Lanai...or you could rent a POD or an ABF relocube.

I know Tim does an excellent job doing the epoxy coatings on the garage floors. It is his speciality, along with installing attic stairs. Do a search for him here on TOTV to find his number, etc...

Make sure when you have the floor done that you use "SharkGrip" mixed into the clear coat. It is an anti slip additive. Also, if you have a model home where the utility closet, (where your hot water tank and Air Handler is) is off of your garage and you have a small amount of floor in there, that you also have that area epoxied.

This is one of those improvements that I tell folks that if they are considering having done to have it done right after closing, before you move everything in...as it avoids the problem of storage....

Hope this helps! Frank

I did mine myself.. I used H&C Concrete Stain Solid Color. I cleaned the floor with H&C solution, let it dry and applied the stain. Two coats when I applied the second coat I put the SharkGrip Additive. I purchased the clear coat but before I put it down I called the H&C. The H&C technician told me I would be defeating the purpose if I put a clear coat on. He said I could add the grip to the clear coat but it would look like a sand in the clear coat. The H&C tech" advised I bring back the clear coat. The other reason I did not clear coat the floor is if you do have a stain etc you can repaint that square section. Total coast $150.00 purchased from Lowes much cheaper the Sherman Williams

Tim the Toolman did both our garage floor and attic stairs. Always glad to give him a good word.

Just to add to "Tim the Toolmans" list of accomplishments. He put shelving and cubbards in my laundry room.

For those of us who either can't or don't want to paint the garage floor, I would strongly recommend Steve Kling.
