Default Headed to the Friendliest Hometown.

Well we did it. We put our home (that we designed and built 37 years ago) on the market knowing the average days on market in Columbus Ohio are 120. Ours sold in 10. Technically we are still waiting for the appraisal for the buyers but we have agreed to terms. So we will be homeless in July. May have some critical questions for TOTVers as we are coming down Memorial Day and will be serious househunters next week.

We are renting an apartment in Columbus for a year for my husband to transition his business. I hope to find a house and will move in with my mother who lives with us.

Just have to say how much I feel in common with everyone and thanks to my vicarious TOTV friends, including Graciegirl and Boomer Beback – fellow Buckeyes. I too was a dairy princess, mcheny, and raised Holsteins – the bovine species in Bernie’s picture. To top it all off—Nonie, in the next month I will deal with exactly 37 years of accumulation. HELP!!!!

Looking forward to seeing you all in person.

JoJo.

I know you must be feeling overwhelmed. I know that you have made the right decision. I wish you could head down here now because you can pick a house and lot and a lot of options. When we bought a month ago that was not so. HOWEVER, I just love the house we bought and where it is and hope YOU two will be nearby. It is so good to have another Columbus couple to be pals with. Hugs to you and Mr. JoJo. It will be more than alright. It will be wonderful living in Paradise.

JoJo and other Ohioans, we have a Tri-County OSU Alumni Club here. We have 368 Buckeye members. No need to be an alumni, being a diehard fan will do. Check it out at www.tricountyosualumni.com . Welcome to The Villages!!!!

Be very careful when you come down and do not make any pressured decisions. I have several friends that were in your situation and found that they needed to make a quick decision when they got to TV. While everything is wonderful down here the homes they ended up buying did not meet their needs 6 months later. I would strongly recommend making a purchase after several trips down and maybe even a few months of renting. Also be cautious as to what you tell your sales rep. when you arrive. If they are aware you have sold your home they can sometimes take advantage and show you homes that are not ideal. Many of the inventory homes have incentives for the sales reps. They pressure you into a street that has many investor owned homes or have a small percentage of full time residents ( example; the village of summerhill ) and in the long run that can lead you into wanting to make a second move once here.

JoJo,

I will be there before you. I too have sold my home in Maine and was down last week and purchased a home on Polo Ridge. Close up here on 6/2 and down there 6/3. We will be moving in sometime middle or late June. I am so excited, can't wait to get there. Our trip this past week was only four days, but after researchin on line and reading all of the posts here, we were able to find what we think suits us at the present time. Can't wait to meet you all and go to Doggy Doo Run

Congratulations mmclover!

I liked everything I saw in Polo Ridge. Good for you. I would offer to help but we aren't going to be down for a long stint until November. We are coming the week of June 6 to hang blinds and fix up a bit and buy furniture. We are in Hadley on Havana Trail.

I am so excited for you and JoJo.

And for us too!

Your village compatriot, (Is that the right word Boomer, Muncle?)

I found the house i wanted on there internet site And came back down from Long Island
and bought the house in the village of DEL MAR Being close enough to walk to SPANISH SPRINGS CENTER was my first priority :hot: :hot: :beer2: :hot: Good LUCK

golfnut,

We bought through the Villages agent that we worked with in Jan of 07. Looked at 12 properties, narrowed it down to two first day. New in Hadley and resale in Polo Ridge.
The location of Polo Ridge was the tie breaker. Golf frontage did the trick, new was very nice but the location at Polo Ridge did it for me. Now I am hearing stories of snakes and alligators on golf front???? I have a big dog, but should I worry. We close on the 3rd of June down there and hope to be there by the 2nd or 3rd week of June. I am so excited I can't wait. I have been working on this for a year and a half. Hope to meet you all soon and can't thank you all enought for the wonderful posts I have been able to educate myself with.

I have been here since November, no snake seen as yet, not even the garden variety.
I have friends who live golf and waterfront and occasionally they see a gator cruising in the water or sunning on waters edge. It has never ventured up into their yard.
Bottomline be aware.
