Assuming a clear day or evening (lift off is after 5pm, isn't it?), you can see the shoot from most any "high" place. Probably best to search out high ground in and around new villages such as Amelia, Hadley. I've seen a couple of shots from my street in Sunset Pointe, whose western stretches are a little higher than elsewhere.

edj was trying to get a group together to go down for the launch. Hopefully, this is still on. Obviously, anyone who wants to join for a caravan and tailgate party down there is welcome to join us.

Where can we drive to, stop, park and watch up close? Closer to Kennedy?

I assume that you meant Eastern stretches? Doesn't it launch on the east coast of FLA?

I was on a hill in Amelia that had a large expansive view towards the east.

The Village of Bonnybrook:
Second rotary south of 466,
Enter gate off of Buena Vista,
First Right turn onto Westin Manor,
Park golf cart on golf course grass on either left or right side.
Face east and enjoy!

I would think that any clearing up towards Hadley, Amelia, Hemmingway, or like 07 says, the corner of Buena Vista and Bonita for fireworks would all be good viewing points. Take pictures please. Speaking of fireworks, July 4th, don't forget we are forming a golf cart convoy from LSL (after the last dance) up Buena Vista to Bonita to view the fireworks of Wildwood, Lady Lake, Summerfield, and Lake Wier. While waiting for the fireworks to start we will have a tailgate party. BYOB and snacks and chairs. Bring cameras for picture posting on TOTV the next day ;D

Russ:

No, I did mean western stretches - in terms of where I am in Sunset Pointe. You're right, of course, that the shuttle site itself is well east of TV - some 60+ miles or so! The hill in Amelia fits my definition of a good place from which to see the shoot!

A very good spot is along Morse Blvd. just north of the Bonita Blvd.
roundabout. Park your cart near the top of Yamasse Street in Largo.
