Default Embarq vs. Comcast Hi Speed Internet Service and Combo Packages

In my research of which of these services to subscribe to, I have reached the following tentative conclusions:

Embarq hi-speed services customer satisfaction is better than Comcast* See http://www.jdpower.com/corporate/new...df/2007210.pdf (look at "South Region" bar chart)

Embarq price is more "up front" for all service, both on the internet site and over the phone.* Two phone calls to Comcast revealed two different promotional rates: a 6 month and a 1 year introductory rate.* No "post introductory rate" prices were published on the web site or known by phone salespeople, which to me indicates we should then rely upon the regular Comcast rates.

Embarq prices appear to be $15 to $20 per month cheaper than Comcast for most equivalent internet, TV, and phone service packages, based on their regular rates.

Embarq website is more straight forward and informative.

Several "unknowns" still exist in my mind...

What kinds of annual Embarq price increases, if any, have you observed?

How does the advertised 3.0 M download speed of Embarq in this area compare to whatever cable speeds you have been accustomed to?

How has your DISH TV (the TV service that comes with the Embarq package) service compared with any cable service you have had?

How fast is "channel changing" on DISH satellite compared to cable TV?

Do you have to use a separate remote (other than that which came with your TV) for High Definition TV for both of these services?

Is there any appreciable difference in Hi definition program offerings between Embarq and Comcast?

I have had the Embarq DSL for 18 months with no price increase and I use the middle speed they offer. No disappointments but I don't play games.

I have DirecTV. My reason is for the NFL ticket. My neighbors have Dishnetwork and all seem pleased.
Only 1 remote with DirecTV and even the non hi-def picture of satelite TV is better than cable and my neighbors with Dishnetwork agree with that.

Any satelite service channel changing will take about 3 seconds vs cable's nearly instant picture change.

The current $99 Embarq package price includes land line with unlimited long distance, 100 channel Dish Network TV and 3 meg download speed DSL internet.*

Any opinions from Embarq or Dish Network users in TV?

3.0 is more than adequate for most internet needs. We had Optimum Online cable in NY and it was only slightly faster. The only decrease in speed I notice is when I first log on, but that's not an issue. 024
We have the Embarq package with 3.0 Internet, Dish 200 channels and basic phone service for $104, as we like to have the Tuner Classic movie option.
Plus whenever you need to call the service is excellent.
