Dear new friends,
When Martha Washington and I went out on the playground in elementary school we passed the time by saying the rhyme above to the buttons on our dress and we ended up with who we would marry. (That is a LONG time ago) It should have been who we would BE. As I get to know people here on TOTV. I often wonder what they used to do for a living. I was a preschool teacher (four year olds) NOT DAYCARE for almost 25 years and then with my daughter had an apparel rep business for the rest of the time until she took it over and I retired a couple of years ago. I do have a part time job now as an exotic dancer. ;D My husband has worked ALL of his career and is still working after retirement for International Truck and Engine Company as National Fleet Sales Manager. Would anyone care to share their past jobs with us? Just for the fun of it?

There's a thread on this somewhere but I refuse to look for it. I'm supposed to be doing some paperwork right now. This is much more fun.
Legal secretary -- mainly appellate law and business litigation. (The "old school" type -- actually did a lot of the work a paralegal does today.)

Yes, Dee, I remember that there was a thread on this a few months back. A lot of peeps had very interesting past careers. Not sure of the title though.

My husband's name is Craig, and I'm pretty sure he didn't play the piano in a whorehouse. Craig is a retired systems designer from Ford Credit, but is still working for them on a contract. We are agreeing to 30 day extensions until our house sells and we can move to TV. I was downsized out of my job as sales rep for Hallmark Cards. I called on drug stores and military bases. I have taken the spare time get the house ready for sale. Now I have completed that task, I am on the internet searching to make our move easier. And playing around on TOTV....

I think it is more fun to have the thread discussed over again. There are so many new members now. Dragging out old threads and asking people to read them is not as satisfying as having a "real time" conversation with your friends "on line." It's my feeling that if we rely on "search" for conversations, there won't ever be any conversation here.

Spent a number of years in the advertising world (media research, primarily), then some Army Reserve active duty, then nearly 20 in a prominent travel agency, where most of my last three-four years was as "bookkeeper!"
Certainly nothing exotic! SWR

Ok..here I go again...
I'm still teaching 3rd grade and plan to retire at the end of next year. Mr. Bright is retired from Ford Motor Company as the Manager of Supplier Diversity out of the World Headquarters building in Dearborn. However, he continues to work for Michigan Minority Business Development Council as a consultant plus he does networking and marketing seminars around the country. Mr. Bright just struck a deal going into a joint venture with a staffing company that will place veterans in jobs. My husband is a veteran and this venture is innovative and dear to his heart. If you are a veteran and/or know of a veteran who is looking for a job...contact me and I'll put you in contact with my husband. |

Doctor Lawyer Indian Chief ----fun thread---Well they call me Doctor at work....I am a Psychologist...but I am retiring on June 30th ;D It's kind of bitter sweet for me though. I have to rediscover myself as a retired person. I know it's the right time to leave my profession, however; I find change very hard....it's the unknown. Can't wait for my next life inTV

I have been an educator for 30+ years prior to retirement. I taught K,2,3,4,5 & 6th grades. When I retired I left an elementary principalship position of 14 years. After 2 years of much needed R&R....I needed something to keep my mind going. So I began substituting at the elem. level.
My 'other half' retired from Managing a Private Country club. He too, picked up a PT job now...as a hotel auditor.

I started my working life as a professional ice skater with Holiday on Ice. After I "grew up" I worked in the slaes and marketing end of the publishing industry both in the USA and in Asia forever it seems. Finally decided to change careers one more time and am now a real estate agent and loving it. I have one more change planned. As soon as I sell my house here in SC I plan on working very hard at being retired in TV!

I have spent most of my years in the dental field. I started as an assistant, moved into off. manger and then consulting all in the dental business. I have also worked as a candy merchandiser and a 3M product merchandiser. Last few years I worked for a collection company selling our services to various companies. I have been off work for the past year due to a health issue.
My husband is a senior sales engineer for Eaton Corporation.
