Default patio villa outside maintenance

Would someone mind letting me know what outside maintenance a patio villa homeowner is responsible for doing. I know that the Courtyard villas have the private back and side yards, and, of course, the ranches/designer homes have the lawns and such (manufactured, too) but I'm unsure if the patio villas are maintained by the homeowner or the TV since the backyard is, in reality, common ground (or am I mistaken?).

Thank you for helping me out with this one.

You are responsible for all outside maintenance.

The backyard is not common ground although Patio Villas virtually have very little backyard...so little it's unusable (at least for us because it's a steep hill from our house down to the property line which is probably no more than 8 feet.

I have a patio villa and I have one side yard, a front and a back. I don't know of common ground in the back. Our back yards butt up to each other. It costs me $35 a month for mowing, edging and trimming. The corner lots are a little bigger - I actually think they have 2 sides, a front and a back. They share a side with the next villa, probably about 3 feet's worth.

Thanks for clearing that up for me...shows you how much (little) I know. I was always under the impression that the backyard was NOT owned by the patio villa homeowner. Also, thanks mfp509 for letting me know your monthly landscape costs.

tk, I think it depends on where the property is as to whom owns the backyard. I live in one of the older sections in a patio villa and TV owns the land behind us. However, we are responsible for maintaining it (go figure!).

From my point of view, for someone else to own the land, meaning that I'm not responsible for paying taxes on it and I get the benefit of my proximity to it, and all I have to do is mow it along with the land that is mine, I think it's a plus, not a negative!

When buying a courtyard villa try to avoid the ones that have grass outside the fence--like the corner lot. You are responsible for the landscaping and upkeep. At least this is the way it is where we lived in Santo Domingo. Our
Realtor knew we wanted little yard work so pointed this out to us.
