Default Garage Door Opener Problems

I have a 10yr+ old MVP Allstar Grage Door Opener. Yesterday while we were gone tghen returned home the garage door was open. Ok, possibly we did not close it or something was in the way of the eye sensor. Nothing was blocking the sensor. My solution was to re-program my transmitters (openers) to a different 9 digit code. I assumed that a neighbor may be also using the same code and as they press their opener, my door opens. Well it happened again today after I changed the codes yesterday. Don't know exactly what is causing this but unless anyone can offer a solution for this opener system I plan on getting a new one ASAP. Any recommendations for a new opener and who may install?

Make sure you completely " unlearn" your receiver. It may have learned your neighbor's code. Been there, done that.

Try unhooking the door from pulley and make sure the door goes up and down smoothly if door has to be pushed down to hard it will go back up. Worth a try

Just had Ryan O'Cull install a new unit for us and we were very pleased. Knowledgeable, on time and reasonable priced.

One of my neighbors is a snowbird. After they left for the summer anew home was built and their opener opened the snowbird garage. Best to lock the garage if you are going to be gone for a few days.

We disable our automatic door mechanism now each time we leave the house. A bit inconvenient, but we haven't come home to an open garage door since doing so.

just a thought, when leaving the garage do you 'hold' the button or just 'press it' once. Holding it can send an intermittent signal that will stop the door. Was it fully open or was it slightly closed? Saw this with a neighbor who always 'held' the button as he drove off.

When leave for the season, we unplug the garage door opener.

Get a garage door opener with a "rolling code" and you will never have that problem

Default Garage Door Noisy

Ryan is a very helpful and honest guy. I explained my problem with the garage door making some loud noises after not being opened for a few days. He told me that it was likely being caused by the vinyl weather stripping becoming glued to the door and the noise comes from the forceful separation of the two surfaces. He recommended I use Vaseline or Pam on the vinyl surrounding the door on the sides and the top.
Ryan could have charged me a service call to come out and do this but he gave me this tip over the phone at no charge. I will certainly be using him when other problems arise.
