Default governance

We have just purchased and I am trying to get a better sense of the different areas. Is there some one place that I could find an overview. Looks like there are some areas that don't pay maintainence fees??? Where children also live??? I wonder if you could suggest some place that would give me a bit of the history.

Roz,

Welcome....it is a wonderful place; congrats on your decision.

Be sure to read the 6 page or so document you received with the deed restrictions...basically the convenants. Everybody pays the amenity fee. Some of the older areas do not have the bond; CDD maintenance fees can also be different in some of the older areas. There are some surrounding housing developments that are for all ages, but, the are not part of the Villages nor are they entitled to use our amenities.

Here's a website to start....this page has some history, but, also check out some of the other links on CDD website:

Welcome Roz!

When I was asking some of the same questions a few months ago someone had a nice history of the Morse family. From the Daily Sun I think. Anyone remember how to find that link?

Good luck and welcome, rozlee! What village did you purchase in, and did you buy new or resale? There is a wealth of info online, and it's a trick to ferreting it out, but it's all available. You will hopefully get some specifics on this thread. We ourselves are relatively new and are snowbirds as well, so we haven't even been in our home there long enough to get the feel of the immediate neighborhood (Belvedere).

We bought 2300 Riley Rd which I believe is in Lynnhaven. We will only be visiting this year as I am still working and we are not ready to sell our Vermont home. I wish I had found this site a while back because it would have made me a much more savvy shopper. We visited in March to see some friends. We returned in June for a week and looked with two Realtors. Put a bid on two house but didn't end up with either. My husband actually selected our house when he flew back down in July and we closed in August. I have not yet been free to see it. He will be there next week and doing lots of photos for me. I am sure it is very nice. We are excited to trade some warmth for our Vermont winters.

Thanks for your help.
