I have one car that I must park in the driveway. I am concerned with the upcoming rainy season that I may get some damage from hail. Is there a cover I could get for the car? I have seen some covers but they are thin and would not protect the car.

first try prayer, if that doesn't work use flattened cardboard boxes under any car cover you choose when hail is forecast. Needless to say, but I will, whatever car cover you use, secure it with bungies or other tie downs (experience has taught me this technique for sudden storms)

I've been here twelve years and have never seen any hail here. The only time I heard of hail here was when the tornado ripped through here. So, while a possible risk, I'd say sun damage would be a bigger concern. I wouldn't advise leaving cardboard on a car for an extended time. One, it would attract cockroaches. Two, if it gets wet, it has a tendency to adhere. Great if you're here to remove it after the storm passes. Otherwise, I just wouldn't risk it.

California Car Cover Co. sells a 4 layer cover, custom made to fit your car. It is called Stormweave and will probably cost between $250 - $300. It will cushion against very small hail, but no car cover alone will protect against larger hail stones.
In the past I showed antique cars during the summer in Wis. and Ill. and was subjected several times to intense storms. I always carried 2 old bed comforters to put on top of the car, held in place under the cover. I may have had a couple of soggy wet blankets when the storm was over, but I never had a dent. Unfortunately not so for some my fellow car buffs using just a cover.

In Florida, Hail usually means tornado. In that case you will have a lot more to worry about than some hail damage to your car. Do you not carry insurance?

We had three thunder storms come through the other night that produced hail. Not to mention, irregardless of insurance coverage, hail damage is a big headache that is not addressed by insurance. A hail blanket costs less than most deductibles.

We had a serious hail storm once (actually had quite a few) in Jackson, MS. Our high school aged son had a full size Chevy Blazer. His vehicle stayed outside, ours were garaged. When the storm started he ran outside to cover the Blazer. He started yelling and I had to go out and protect him with a heavy blanket because he was being pummeled by the hail. I was wearing a very heavy hooded Main Guide coat and still felt the sting of the quarter sized hail.

My deed restrictions do not allow cardboard car covers.

Paint them camouflage so no one will recognize them. Maybe to make them look like a palm tree?

I've only seen pea size hail in Florida in my 62 years here. I wouldn't worry about it.

Leaving a car parked in the driveway? My concern would be damage from the sun vs hail.

I agree, which is why I always wonder why I see an SUV sitting out on everyone's driveway all day everyday...you know that funny big door in front opens a room made just to put your car in! maybe then contractors and visitors can pull in the driveway and not block the roads for everyone else!
