Default Thundershirt is a winner!

Chip, our Shih Tzu - as many dogs, does not like thunder. He's not as uncontrollable as some pups, but still. During rough/loud storms he's unsettled, walking around, under things, and we feel bad for him.

A few weeks ago we got a Thundershirt for him - camo, $30. Used it twice now, incl tonight - and what a difference. I guess he feels comforted with that bit of pressure on his body all-around. Now he just lays near us and looks at the front door/windows, quite serenely. Only used it twice now - not the perfect longterm test, but so far - it sure does the trick.

Here's a pic of the TS from the advertisement/site - we used PETSporium on eBay.

I bought one for my pup about 5 years ago when they first came out. It does work! The first time, it was almost as if she was drugged when I put it on. She sort of leaned over and was very comfortable. I use it during fireworks time also.

I am so glad that Chip likes his vest!

Remember the conversation we had regarding that the last time we talked?

The thunder has been brutal. I am so glad he is feeling snugly and secure!

If someone told you that your dog is a Shih Tzu, you've been mislead. He's a beagle.
Good to hear that Thundershirts work.

I think that's the ad for Thundershirts - not his dog.

My little Lulu loves hers.
It works even better over time.
The hug removes the tremble of fear.
She does not escalate to the next level panting and running.
But it does not work on all does. Hit and miss.
I do not know why.

This is such a great item! It works because it stops the buildup of static electricity in your dogs fur! It has an anti static lining. Glad your pup is more comfortable!

I'm glad to hear it works for some. Doesn't seem to phase my Cairn! Nothing seems to calm him during a storm!

Got them for our Shih Tzu and now she comes to me before a storm and looks for her coat. I also give her Rescue Remedy and homeopathic Borax and some Lavender essential oil on her neck. Together they seem to keep her calmer than she used to be. If it gets really loud and windy, she still doesn't like it, but at least she isn't as frantic as she used to be. She won't go outside though, so it is hard if the storm lasts all day!

We dog sit and have had many of our charges us these vests. I have recommended them to those dog owners whose dog gets freaked out and oh so upset when storm happens while in our care. This is a testimony to those who wonder if the thunder vests work.
