This is an article from a health website and I'm sure they are trying to sell us something. But if you can get past that, this is a descent article with good tips of which some you may not have thought of before.

According to Consumer Reports/Union of the four hospitals in our area, The Villages Hospital has the lowest safety score among other low ratings. The two in Ocala and Orlando Regional are rated higher. If we listen to the local propaganda through the Daily Sun, etc., one would think that The Villages Hospital is second to none let alone last in the area.

Unsure of the organization, however, Consumer Reports objectively evaluates products, services and healthcare. I was really disappointed in The Villages Hospital. The one in Clermont is rated worse. We will have to find the two in Ocala in case....

I notice the list does not include "only go to a hospital that is a 5-10 minute drive, within your own community".

Most of the nation has to drive 20-30+ miles to get to a larger, more specialized community hospital or teaching/university medical center. That is no different here in TV, but many look only at distance from their home here. Do your homework and drive to a higher-level hospital.

Smile Suggestion

A wise Dr. at one of the most famous Clinic's once told me that first find out the diagnosis through a well known clinic, (e.g. Mayo, Lahey, Sloan, etc). Once a firm and accurate diagnosis has been determined almost any hospital or Doctor can treat the cause. Based on this it may be The Village Hospital is very good but has there been an accurate diagnosis? Otherwise their treatment will only be as good as how good the diagnosis was.

I used to work at the University of Michigan hospital and am very used to excellent healthcare. I think we will be going to Orlando to the Florida Hospital.
