Default Padua Farms

I heard a rumor...I know' don't blast me for posting a rumor, but wonder if any of the well informed posters on TOTV know anything about this topic. The Morse family might be buying the Padua Farms complex on Rt. 301. Fact or fiction?

Padua Farms is a truly beautiful complex and we have wondered for several years why it has not been sold. It must cost a fortune for the upkeep of the main house and the "employees" homes, plus the landscaping.

I think I read somewhere that one of the "family" is an accomplished horsewoman, so it would make sense from that respect, but speculation, speculation ......................

I remember recently that the Padua farm and it's 750 or so acres went to auction. They were seeking a price of around 20 million and the highest bid was 7 million, which was rejected. The report then was there would be possible negotiations after the auction...but as far as I remember, nothing else was reported. It would make sense that the Morse family would be interested, but that remains to be seen.

It may be a rumor, really, but I heard the Morse family was buying all of Marion county east of rt 301.

And if they buy it and move the family compound there, just think of all the land that opens up to be developed right in the middle of the current Villages.

Years ago while we were looking at a resale bordering "The Compound" we were told by the Villages Realtor that the whole residential/farm area on the North side of 466 was owned by the State and leased to current residents under 99 year leases. Anyone know if that is true? If so, that area would never become part of The Villages, but would remain a mini-farm area.

Never is longer than 99 years. What is the date of the lease?

When I first moved here in 2008, Padua was listed at 24 mil, it's now listed at 18 mil. A realtor told me there was some legal background that is unsettled??? Look up the realtor who has it listed and take the video tour.

Oh, no. I hope it isn't selling. My husband promised to buy it for me just as soon as he won the lottery or his uncle got out of the poor house.
