I always look forward to meeting other Village people. Not everyone is like me.

Some are afraid to meet up with strangers even though they have "met" us on line here in the forum.

I can understand the dilemma with meeting strangers who could be dangerous but I don't understand the fear of meeting people who we have gotten to know via this forum.

Am I alone with not being fearful? Do you have reservations meeting those of us here on the forum?

Bright....I can't wait to meet the TOTV people. We are coming up for a lifestyle from the 30th of August to Sept. 5th. I hope I will be able to meet some people then.

Hey Bright, I heard my Momma tell one of her friends one time, a loooong time ago that I had never met a stranger and I probably never would. I look forward to meeting folks all the time.

I agree with Shirlee; I think it's more shyness or self-consciousness than fear. If we recognize that it's hard for a newcomer to just reach out and join in, then those of us who have 'been there and done that' should go out of our way to be welcoming, which I believe, generally speaking, we are....

Speaking for myself, I love to meet new friends, but I am also shy in new situations. I guess it maybe the discomfort or anxiety that new situations may bring to some folks. However; I am very much looking foward to meeting all the wonderful friends that I have met in TOTV.
Sidney you are right, reaching out to those who are shy ( I agree w/ you Shirlee) is very important. I have always tried to do that.

That's what's so great about participating in this forum, it takes the edge off the stress of meeting new people as potential friends. The sharing of opinions and banter here almost seems like getting to know the person in real life and when the opportunity presents itself to really meet face-to-face, that meeting is so much easier.

My personality is on the "reserved" side and it takes me longer to make real friends - TOTV offers a real shortcut ;D

P.S. I still prefer meeting people on an individual basis, so when I finally get to TV for a lifestyle preview (dunno when) I will look forward to meeting y'all individually, in person, for lunch or a swim in the pool 8)

Strangely, I have a very large shy streak -- especially in groups. However, I've found it easier to meet people I think I "know" via the net. I really do feel I am greeting people I have known for awhile, sometimes even friends and have yet to be disappointed with the TOTV gatherings. So, take the risk, plunge on in and enjoy to the best of your abilities. I know I'm glad I did and I bet everyone who has dared to come to the gatherings is glad they did.

I used to not like going to parties where I knew not a soul. Here in TV my nervousness or butterflies have long since given up!

But, there's a whole lot of people who roll their eyes at me when I mention what fun we TOTV-ers have when we get together. They've been convinced by frightening media reports that anyone you meet on line is dangerous! ;D

It's good to know that this site, at least, is full of safe people. They may not necessarily all be quite sane, but they are safe! :joke:
