I cannot get one of about a dozen links onto this reply page, but here is just a sample!!
http://www.eyeblast.tv/public/video.aspx?RsrcID=2036 Enjoy and then think deeply what language you want your kids to learn a few years from now. Personally I prefer English to Muslim. I'm done, no more posts in this area. |

There is a difference between an historian and an entertainer. The "expose" and "tell all" books are meant to titillate the National Enquirer fans to read something that costs more and uses bigger words (sometimes!) than supermarket-checkout tabloids.
Whether the book is for-or-against either candidate is immaterial. The goal of the book is not to enlighten the reader, but provide royalties to the author and profits to the publisher. If they could figure out how to get away with a centerfold in the book as well, on the concept that it would increase sales, that would happen, too. It's amazing how many of these gems come out just before an election.... |

Dictionary: McCarthyism
"...The McCarthy era is a low point in American history, but with the passage of time, it has also contributed to a national recognition and distrust of unfair and unsupported accusations. The label McCarthyism is now a deterrent. To attack people personally for their political beliefs and to brow-beat them for asserting their rights is no longer something which people want to be accused of doing. History is a powerful teacher, and these documents offer many lessons on the importance of open government, due process and respect for individual rights. Democracy means people have a right to express peaceful dissent from the prevailing view of the government, and the government is obligated to permit and defend that right. The McCarthy hearings failed to teach these lessons, but that is why they are a part of our national past that we can neither afford to forget nor permit to recur. - Lessons from McCarthyism, Senator Carl Levin |

It is my understanding that this book as been fully substantiated and been fully lawyered and fact checked. I went through and looked up the names mentioned on the internet independently (not Wiki, which is unreliable). I found the book easy to read and quite interesting.
It's quite obvious from some of the 'hacker' reviews left on Amazon, that they had not even opened the book. If you read the book and take out Obama's name so as to negate any prejudice one way or the other for him, you will still find it an interesting read. |
