OH my, this brings back memories. I remember these and the yearly updates. I recall my parents had 15 or 20 years of updates before they stopped.

When I was in third grade, my parents bought Compton's Encyclopedia for me.
I was so happy and decided I would read the whole thing. I got as far as Akron. Well-intentioned Laurie......... "Get the ennnnncyclopedia! E-N-C-Y-C-L-O-P-E-D-I-AAAAAA!" |

I remember we had a set of encyclopedias called "Books of Knowledge".

As a kid, I had to go to the library to do research. My favorite was the Donnell Library, across the street from MOMA in Manhattan.
