OH my, this brings back memories. I remember these and the yearly updates. I recall my parents had 15 or 20 years of updates before they stopped.

When I was in third grade, my parents bought Compton's Encyclopedia for me.

I was so happy and decided I would read the whole thing.

I got as far as Akron.

We were just thrilled when we got our encyclopedias, that was a big deal!!

I remember we had a set of encyclopedias called "Books of Knowledge".
That's how I found out that babies aren't delivered by the stork.

As a kid, I had to go to the library to do research. My favorite was the Donnell Library, across the street from MOMA in Manhattan.
