Default Dog hit by villages security vehicle

Has anyone in the villages had their dog/cat hit by one of the villages security vehicles? My dog ran out of the house & was hit by their truck. Although there is a leash law, has anyone gone to see if the villages would cover the hospital bill?

Was the accident the fault of the driver?

How would The Villages have any fault in this accident? Sorry you dog was hurt, however, if you didn't have control of your pet, it's your fault..

I think you're on your own.

1.What are the leash laws in Sumter County?
County Code 4-10 states that all dogs must be confined on owners property at all times or under direct control or on a leash when off the owners property.
Otherwise a citation will be issued for the animal running free.

If my dog was loose and ran into the road and was hit by a car I would feel totally responsible and feel terrible for the driver. It would never occur to me to put the blame on the driver since the dog should be under my control at all times.

If the dog isn't injured, he should be proud. After all, he caught the truck.
Hope he's OK.

Wonder how the dog is. Wonder how the driver is? Wonder where this happened?

Are you serious? It's not the drivers fault. It would be the owners fault.

I am so sorry this happened to your dog and you. I imaging your dog escaping the confines of your home was an unexpected event, not just for you but for the driver as well. I would expect you would be held responsible not only for your pet's injury, but for any damage that might have occurred to the vehicle as well. Seems like a case of insult to injury, doesn't it. Is your dog okay? really hope so.
