Default I'm thoroughly confused

A younger man hitting a grandfather has people up in arms ... But an older woman slugging another woman is a chance to crack jokes? Both of these people were arrested and charged with a crime. How is any act of violence okay? I honestly don't get it. As Ricky would say, "Please essplain, Lucy."

One involved two women with little class and no issues.

The other involved the possible inappropriate conversation with young girls and the stealing of a cell phone by a felon.

Default "Essplanin'," Lucy

We seem to know a little more detail about the swimming pool incident and not as much about the line dancing encounter. However, in neither case do we know the whole story. It really bothers me when the media around here, including the-one-that-shall-not-be-named and the Daily Planned It break stories that don't have the facts right and then fail to follow up. Worse, we all post our opinions and snide remarks based on assumptions and bad information. We were much better off as a society when the news media were valued for accuracy rather than how fast they reported. I hope the facts all come to light when these two incidents go to court -- if they do. I believe the line dancers case will go to court. From what people close to the matter have relayed, this appears to have been a set up by the so-called victim for gain.

How could she gain? I am so dumb I can't think how a person could gain setting up a situation where she got bopped. Line dancing is not a serious occupation. It's supposed to be lighthearted fun. If the folks involved would have exited stage right and left the area OR called the cops no bopping would have happened..

I'd have to guess that the taunting person must have had a snootful. I have never had a yen to say mean stuff to a line dancer... You cannot have a decent conversation with a drunk so you should just back off, get in your car and dance at another square if you feel inclined to dance.

I think less and less of our on-line news source. Is interviewing a friend of the line dancer who was quoted saying she actually didn't see what happened but was told by friends of the slugger what occured, is that good journalism? I could care less what happened, the authorities and courts will figure it out. If someone is going to develop a website, tout their news experience, and begin reporting the news in the Villages, I think the least they can do is get a fact or two before reporting the event.

Seems sort of ridiculous for someone to suggest that linedancing activities should have an officer accompany the group to keep the peace and wayward children away from the action.

It's a shame people cannot be civil, at any age.

Law suit for damages is how. I've been told the so-called victim baited the teacher and hit first. Then her husband video taped what came next. There were many witnesses. The truth will out -- just not in the media, probably.

I highly doubt much of a lawsuit would come out of that situation.

Bonny, probably no lawsuit but 5 minutes of fame on some talk show. I think people are doing lots of stupid stuff just so they can post on you tube and facebook for the chance to be interviewed on these talk shows.

Someone always comes out "psychologically damaged" from these incidents, and their are attorneys like Morgan and Morgan that love this stuff.

This is better addressed through the criminal courts.
