Thumbs up National Thank A Police Officer Day. Saturday 9/19/2015.

NATIONAL “THANK A POLICE OFFICER DAY” | WZEP AM 1460

Thanks to all the retired men and women in blue who come onto TOTV. I know a few of these retired cops from Doggie Doo Run Run but am not sure if these are still on or if ever were on TOTV. I knew one of them was on TOTV years ago as I met him at a Crispers' TOTV monthly meeting along with his wife.

These retired cops and active cops have been in my life on-and-off since 1977 or so since I did all kinds of house and yard work for a senior lady in Reno, Nevada whose son was a Reno Police Department cop. No. He was nothing like Reno 911. Had other experiences with active cops during the Michelle Mitchell murder investigation connected with Earl Wooster High School and my English teacher, Barbara Mitchell, Michelle's mother. Some of these Earl Wooster High School students were questioned in this 2-24-1976 murder as it was three years before it was "solved". The case was re-opened over the past year or so due to a false confession in 1979 that was not discovered as being bogus until 2014 or so. The paranoid schizophrenic who made it wanted to clear her name as far as I know. Or, her lawyer did.

My experiences with police have been interesting over the years even while I was a Student Attorney with Legal Assistance to Minnesota Prisoners at the University of Minnesota Law School from 1987-1989. I had to get into an adversarial role with some Twin Cities' area police while a Student Lawyer.

I also had the pleasure of making the acquaintance of a CA police sergeant (or something like that) while on Findlaw from 2002 through 2007 or so. I bet he is probably still on there giving people good advice.

What are some of your experiences with law enforcement? Both good and bad?

I do thank these men and women for their bravery and service to others.

Seriously???? It's 5:30---pour a double Martini (shaken, not stirred) and chill out. If that was sarcasm, I surely missed it, despite the inclusive nature of the OP.

Kind of on topic, but kind of not: I would love to go to sonny's or TooJays or (fill in the blank), pick up food and deliver to the closest fire department or police/sheriff substation. Is this allowed? Has anyone done this?

Actually it wasn't in the original post, and certainly no sarcasm intended. Hats off to all blue!

I tried to thank several police officers today, but it didn't go over that well. Probably because it is also "Talk Like a Pirate Day".

I added it after I saw your post. I did have it at the bottom. Two hearts and heads are often better than one.

There was a report last night of a 10 year old kid in mid-Michigan who was planning an appreciate law enforcement party. He and his mother also bake cookies for them and raise money for the party through the cookie sales. It was on CBS National News "On the Road" segment.
